Its been an interesting night. My roast dinner I'd budgeted time to cook for my roast but not any time to eat or travel to the pub where I was going to meet my sister, her boyfriend and their friends. I got there just in time to move pubs and see my sister go home as she was ill. Enjoyed a couple of pints and conversation with people I still don't really know aside from my sisters boyfriend and left after a couple of hours. The reason for this was 2 fold, one I really need to get back on my old sleep routine, I'm due in at work at 5am on saturday and I've been nowhere near that routine lately. The other that I had an invite for a night out with cinema folk old and new. I was equally late for this arrangement as I hadn't planned to go at all, being strapped for cash, but a last minute change of heart occurred as often does when alcohol is involved. The place was packed however, and instead of trying to find them, I went straight to the bar. Pint in hand, I did a quick walkthrough and came up short and without mobile signal. Making the best of a bad situation I found a table (amazingly given the rammed nature of the place), a chair and started reading the book I'd brought with me for my bus travel - Michael J Fox's autobiography if you must know - and just sat. It was maybe a bit loud to do so, but the selection wasn't bad with Ace of Spades, Welcome to the Jungle, and some disturbed track I can't place at the moment among others. And I just sat there, nice book, pint (Worthingtons - not great but at £1.69 and the choice between that and lager it'll do) and decent music and the general sound of life on the outside. It was peaceful, relaxing, and something I think I should do more often..Its cliche but it can be the little things in life that make it worthwhile
